Caffenol Process

I have recently played around with an alternative way to develop film. The Caffenol Process is not new but to me it is, and  I am in love! I miss being able to have the resources of a darkroom at my fingertips and I love love, love film but it is costly to not only buy but to develop as well. This is why I was super excited to try this method out, it is a mixture of instant coffee, vitamin C powder, and washing soda.  Super simple at home supplies, you of course still need photo fix but all these supplies are readily available online. This process only works with black and white film and it also increases the grain of the image so be careful

of your lighting and subject matter.

Neon Museum

While in Vegas one of the first places we visited was The Neon Museum. It was Amazing!, we went on a twilight photography tour so we had an undisturbed amount of time to take photos instead of being restricted to the cell phone only guided tour. Here they have the salvaged neon signs from the casinos that started it all. Most of them no longer work but there were still some that did. I highly suggest checking this place out, they are working on expanding and a new exhibit where an artist projects onto the non-working signs what they actually looked like when they did work.

Abstract Fireworks

The fireworks show that I went to this year was a slight disappointment. Aside from everyone just being rude by pushing and shoving when the fireworks started, half of the show was blocked by trees.  I was able to get a few abstract shots playing with long exposures and my camera movements.

Person in Water

Here are the rest of the images from my shoot with my cousin Erin. I am finding some aspects of shooting a person in water frustrating. Space is the major downfall my bathroom and tub are small to get the desired effect. however, I am quite pleased with how this set of images have come out. Now I just need a larger body of water and a few volunteers. Perhaps I will attempt this in a new environment like in a pool or at the beach, Ideas for me to think about ?

Person in water

This month I had the pleasure of having my cousin as a model for the project I have been working on of People in water. I am quite excited about the outcome! I am editing now here is a taste of what is to come…. IMG_0030

Transparencies

I was flipping through my film binders and I realized that I have a ton of transparencies which are positive film placed in plastic slides. This set of images are a few of the images are some of my favorites.

Painting with Light

Painting with light is always a fun time, the results are always amazingly unpredictable and unexpected. You could literally use any form of light source imaginable which makes it the best part. In this set of images the light source was sparklers, my painters were my Sister  and Mother-in-law.

Landing Road

This set of images were taken at my Grandmother’s childhood home at a time when my Aunt who also grew up at this house was battling cancer. I was not sure what to do with myself so I turned to the medium I love. I wanted to freeze time, try make the time left with my aunt last just that much longer.  The house had an awkward tension of sadness, loneliness as my Grandmother had passed a few years earlier, and now we were at the same doorstep with her daughter. These images are just a few that reflect the pieces of memory I will always go back to growing up here. If you are in my family you know well that this house is was and will always be a part of each of us. It was our foundation, center, it is our Landing Road.

Willowwood

I recently have been investigating more of the Arboretums, Estates, and state parks in my area. This is Willowwwod Arboretum in Far Hills, NJ. Some of the images I used my wonderful Lensbaby for a beautiful creative effect !

Riverbend Park

The other day my Fiancé and I took a ride north to Jupiter, We decided to take a walk in Riverbend Park. The swamp is an environment that I find so enticing; that is until I see a snake that could kill you! Until that day comes, I think I will continue to play with this unique nature as an art form
