International Beach Clean Up

Over the weekend my job hosted its annual International beach clean up. We had a  good turn out of people volunteering to help clean, preserving our beaches and the waterways around them by doing so. In the images you see the a brave group of individuals from LIU Post college tackle the hard work of removing a 500 lbs. tire that washed up because of Hurricane Sandy. There was another tire but it was just about 150 lbs. The total amount of garbage with everything that was collected I am going to guess was around 1000 lbs maybe a little less.  Now it is great that all this garbage was collected, the sad part is that the garbage was there in the first place. This was just one small area about less than a mile or so on the coast of Hempstead Harbor right near the opening of the Long Island Sound. Take that number we got for the small area we are and image doing this on every piece of coastal land on Long Island. We do have a lot of coastal property if you take into account every Harbor, Inlet, Sound, Bay, and Ocean Beach. We put this garbage out there we should all take the time to pick some up when we see it, more than just once a year.

As a thank you treat for helping to clean everyone was offered refreshments and a short show on some native Long Island wildlife. There was a Screech Owl, Eastern Box Turtle , and a very cute but chubby Opossum.

Top of the Lighthouse

I have been going though my computer and external hard drives, cleaning them up a bit. I came across Images from my first year living in Florida for the winter; I then realized how fast the times goes and soon I will be making the drive back down! well until then I hope that you can enjoy these images that brought back great memories of all the places I was able to visit! This Particular Images is a Panoramic from the top of the Jupiter Lighthouse.

Circle Beach, NY

My Boyfriend lives out east in The Hampton’s, this is good and bad depending on how you look at it. Traffic…CRAZY! Spending time with him and going to the beach amazing! this weekend he tried to surprise me with a sunset BBQ on the beach. Of course we had to fight off the rain at some points but we stuck it out and I am glad because it was simply delicious! He made me a Chicken Satay appetizer with a peanut dipping sauce, then for the main course we had Grilled Shrimp and cucumber lettuce wraps ; which I never thought of having a cucumber grilled I have always had it cold in a salad, or as a pickle it was really good! then for desert we had homemade chocolate mousse, YUM! If only the weather cooperated a little more I could have had more pictures. Here is a panoramic of the beach we were at in Noyac, NY right before the rain started to drizzle in!

Headed North

It is the time of the season when I am back in New York for the summer. On our travels north we make a rest stop in North Carolina. Mooresville is a nice little town just outside Charlotte, which is unfortunately slowly being built up and just like here on long island. I only say unfortunately because many people myself included want to get away from all that congestion, but it is still lovely and tranquil none the less.

The town of Morrisville is build around Lake Norman (which is huge, I think the largest man-made lake around?) and while I was visiting I got to explore around to different parts of it. I did a shoot for my Boyfriends aunt who has her own landscape design company, they are coming up soon! First here are a couple of panoramic that I shot two are from the dock of the clients house at The Point and the other is from his aunts dock.  I hope you enjoy!
